Bullying is a serious problem in schools and we are addressing it with a comprehensive program that is fun and educational.  The ventriloquist addresses the different types of bullying to the students through “Violet,” the wise owl puppet.  This method works fabulously for all audiences.  For example, at one of the programs, Violet asked “What if my big brother hurts me all the time?”  Immediately following that question, four small children said they had older siblings that pulled their hair or punched them often.  We were able to share this with the teacher who then spoke to the parents regarding this.  During another anti-bullying show, another child asked, “What if my daddy hits my mommy and pulls her hair?  Is that bullying?”  This was shocking to us but it gave us the opportunity to share with the teacher so they could then address the issue.  These are rare cases but the fact the children feel comfortable sharing with Violet is totally amazing!  Plus, it gives the family an opportunity to deal positively with such a negative experience.
